General Statement of Duties: The Department of Music at Westfield State University invites applications for a part-time instructor within the Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy program. Successful candidates will teach courses within the music therapy program and/or provide on-site clinical supervision to music therapy practicum students, according to candidate specialization and departmental need. Candidates with a variety of areas of expertise in music therapy will be considered. We especially invite applicants who demonstrate critical pedagogy in philosophy and approach; are grounded in a music-centered approach to music therapy; take an integral perspective on music therapy orientations; and utilize experiential learning.

Successful candidates will be encouraged to collaborate in dialogue among the music therapy and music faculty on curriculum, pedagogy, and clinical training.

Candidates who are able to have an on-campus presence are preferred; however, in exceptional cases, hybrid or remote instruction may be considered.


Requirements:

Required qualifications:
  • Appropriate professional credential or designation in music therapy (MT-BC)
  • At least three years of full-time clinical experience in music therapy (or its equivalent in part-time work)

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in music therapy or a related field
  • Prior college teaching and/or supervision experience in music therapy
