Job Details
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A candidate with a terminal degree in Music Education with a focus on band management or conducting is preferred. An M.A. is required. Candidate must have a proven record of directing and managing bands at the University level, experience with fund raising and recruitment, and the ability to collaborate with others in the ongoing development of the music curriculum.
- Successful University teaching experience.
- Proven success in public school teaching (minimum of two years).
- Demonstrated success in all facets of a university band program, including the recruitment and retention of quality students, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with public school band directors, and university/community constituents.
- Demonstrated musical, financial, and administrative success with University and/or high school concert and athletic bands.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing learning goals and outcomes for the band program Managing instrument procurement, maintenance, and inventory; traveling with the ensembles; Organization and administration of the preseason band camp; Creating and maintaining the department website and social media accounts, Maintenance of the band library; Coordinating homecoming activities Lead new instrumental music initiatives, assist orientation and other initiatives.

SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION
- Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the immediate supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Jarvis Christian University Administrative Policies and Procedures Manual.
