Description:

The Professor of Practice and Operation Restoration & Tulane SoPA College in Prison Program Director will oversee educational programming offered at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women (LCIW). The Director will work in collaboration with a community-based organization, Operation Restoration (OR), and the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections (DPSC&C) to offer academic programs and support to students at LCIW.  In addition to serving as the main point of contact and managing coordination with partner organizations, the Director will have administrative responsibilities to include managing faculty, ensuring quality instruction, leading program evaluation, and working with units within Tulane to offer services to LCIW students.  The Director will collaborate with partner organizations to respond to grants and requests for proposals.  The ideal candidate for this position must have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, relevant leadership experience, and a strong commitment to working with incarcerated populations and those impacted by incarceration.  This individual will hold a faculty appointment in the School of Professional Advancement as a Professor of Practice and teach three (3) courses per year in the College in Prison Program (CPP) in humanities or social sciences.


Qualifications:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:

  1. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  2. Excellent administrative skills.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including educators and higher education administrators, community partners, public officials, departments of corrections, and others.
  4. Demonstrated leadership in diverse organizations.
  5. Experience with fundraising and grant writing.  
  6. Excellent attention to detail.
  7. A Master’s degree in Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities, or a related field.
  8. Ability to provide quality academic advisement to adult students.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D.
  • Experience working with incarcerated students or individuals who are justice impacted.
  • Grant management experience
