Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow

Job Summary:

Seeking a full-time, Postdoctoral Fellow to join a research laboratory within the Department of Craniofacial Biology, School of Dental Medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to projects in the Nair laboratory exploring antibacterial polymers for dental applications and the design of nanogels for drug delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
    Maintain laboratory databases, place laboratory orders and contribute to laboratory compliance. Responsibilities will include independent experiments that contribute to the laboratory's goal of developing the next generation of antibacterial smart materials (For example, 1) design, formulate and synthesis nanogels that are created specifically to encapsulate a drug or small-molecule, 2) Synthesize polymers to assess their regenerative capacity in vitro and in vivo, 3) characterize the performance of antibacterial coating on dental composites in vivo and 4) run cytocompatibility tests and MIC and MBC assay on common dental pathogens suing materials developed in the lab). Contribute to the labs exploratory research projects in stimuli-responsive dental materials. Contribute to peer-reviewed publications.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD. Minimum of four-years' experience in a research, including the degree years.

Preferred Qualifications:
    PhD in the field of pharmacological sciences with emphasis on drug delivery. Proven experience and familiarity with polymer and nanogel formulation and synthesis Proven experience with in vivo and in vitro assay Two or more first author publications/book chapters from degree work

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Familiar with polymer synthesis and characterization Familiar with microbiology assays (in vivo and in vitro) Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across related disciplines within academia.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

NIH Stipend levels:

Postdoctoral Career level 0: $56,484

Postdoctoral Career level 1: $56,880

Postdoctoral Career level 2: $57,300

Postdoctoral Career level 3: $59,592

Postdoctoral Career level 4: $61,572

Postdoctoral Career level 5: $63,852

Postdoctoral Career level 6: $66,228

Postdoctoral Career level 7 or more: $68,604

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
