Overview
The Wake Forest University School of Business is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Director of Sustainability Initiatives. This key role will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of sustainability initiatives. In collaboration with the University’s Office of Sustainability and related academic centers and institutes, the Director will work closely with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to integrate sustainability into the School of Business curriculum, research, and operations.

About the Role

Essential Functions:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy for the School of Business that addresses emerging concepts such as ESG, BCorp/BLab, Societal Impact, and is in alignment with the university's sustainability goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate sustainability into the curriculum and oversee the development of new courses and programs related to sustainability, this may include teaching responsibilities dependent upon credentials and experience.
• Expand experiential learning opportunities for students via partnerships with businesses and community groups to hone real-world problem-solving skills.
• Provide leadership and guidance to student groups and organizations focused on sustainability and support their efforts to engage with the broader business community on sustainability issues.
• Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness of the school's sustainability initiatives and engage stakeholders in sustainability efforts.
• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders across the university to identify opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and to promote a culture of sustainability across campus.
• Monitor and report on progress toward sustainability goals, and regularly assess the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives to ensure continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the University’s sustainability assessment and reporting efforts.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Master's degree in sustainability, environmental studies, business, or a related field and at least 8 years of experience leading organizational sustainability or a related strategic organizational development or change; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to speak to a variety of audiences, including students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
• Passion for sustainability and a commitment to creating a more sustainable future.
• Demonstrated understanding of sustainability principles and their application in a business context.
• Strong project management skills, with experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others to action.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform decision-making.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) or the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), preferred.
• The ideal candidate is an innovative educator and leader with both academic and applied experience in sustainability or related field.

Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing; communicating with others to exchange information; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; and assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
