Overview

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in English courses. 

Qualifications

Education:

-Bachelor’s Degree in English or closely related discipline. (Minimum) -Master’s Degree in English, or closely related discipline. (Desired) -Coursework in or experience using technology in instruction. (Desired) 

Experience:

-Equivalent of one year high school or college experience teaching English Composition. (Minimum)  

Abilities and Skills:

-Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, and the public. (Minimum)-Sensitivity to the expectations of students, faculty, and staff. (Minimum) -Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum) -Developed organizational skills. (Minimum) -Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. (Minimum) 

 

Responsibilities

-Instruct and evaluate students in English courses such as basic English, English Composition I & II, and technical & professional Communications. (Essential)-Maintain accurate written records of Student performance. (Essential)-Take attendance and maintain records of student attendance. (Essential)-Participate in School assessment process. (Essential)-Maintain office hours according to the standardize part-time teaching agreement. (Essential)-Attend department and School meetings as requested. (Marginal)

-Finalists must present a sample lesson.-Candidates for teaching positions must be fluent in the English language (oral and written) – English Fluency in Higher Education Act. (Pennsylvania Senate Bill 539/Act No. 76) -May include day, evening, and/or weekend assignments. 

-Background check will be required on selected candidate.

Pay TransparencyThe part-time rate for 2023/24 will be the greater of $1140 per credit or $760 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven. The approved substitute pay rate is $47.50 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week.College Statement
