Job Summary:

The Administrative Assistant II reports to the Chair of the Business and Industrial Technology Department and performs administrative and office support activities for the department. Responsibilities include preparing purchase orders, requisitions, receiving reports, inventory management, general record management, clerical duties, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, managing spreadsheets, filing, and faxing. Extensive software skills are required, as well as Internet research abilities and strong communication skills. Performs other duties as assigned. Participate in campus events and/or activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in office administration or closely related field.
Two to three years’ experience in office administration.
Skill in the use of a personal computer.
Effective skills in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and/or Outlook).
Experience working in higher education.
Experience using BANNER software system.
Valid driver’s license.

SALARY :

Commensurate With Experience; Excellent Benefits

Work Hours:

8 to 5, Monday-Friday 40 hours a week

Essential Job Functions:

Manage general office correspondence and distribute departmental mail. Compose and edit correspondence, letters, memoranda, reports, syllabi, vouchers, requisitions, manuals, and minutes of departmental meetings.

Utilize Banner to manage semester schedules; access student records to answer questions; register students; generate class rosters; utilize other Banner screens to improve efficiency and assist students and faculty.

Perform administrative assistant duties for the chair and the department.
