Requirements

The Associate Director, Law Alumni Engagement - Regional and Recent Alumni, works as part of a team whose goal is to connect and reconnect law alumni with each other, current students, and Georgetown University Law Center - while simultaneously supporting current use fundraising to reach the goals of the Law Annual Fund. This position will employ a variety of methods to engage alumni including events, communications, and volunteer-powered programs. This role works primarily with two segments of alumni: recent alumni (graduated in the last 10 years) in the Law Center's top market of Washington, DC, as well as alumni in the top regional markets across the country. She/he will identify, recruit and cultivate volunteer leaders in these markets in order to build cohesive alumni communities. The Associate Director works with other members of the Office of Advancement to support Law Reunion Weekend. She/he works collaboratively with other Advancement staffers, and with alumni volunteers to recruit and cultivate new alumni volunteers and donors. Must be able to work cross-functionally with other stakeholders at the Law Center (faculty, current students, Career Services, Admissions, etc.) to engage alumni populations in these target segments.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Regional Alumni responsibilities include planning, marketing, and executing programming for alumni in top regional markets, as well as recruiting and managing volunteers in those markets
  • Regular travel to the aforementioned regional markets
  • Recent Alumni responsibilities include recruiting and managing the Recent Alumni Advisory Council, as well as planning and executing programming for the recent alumni population
  • Maintaining data integrity in Salesforce
  • Tracking and monitoring of programming budgets
  • Crafting and delivering programming marketing and communications
  • Additional duties as needed; including staffing and supporting team events, and soliciting alumni in conjunction with current use fundraising efforts.


Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least two years (though preferably more) of volunteer management, event planning, development, or related experience.
  • A proven and energetic relationship builder.
  • Experience working in an academic setting or in the legal sector a plus
  • Willingness and availability for evening events, weekend work, and for travel as required.


This position manages the Recent Alumni Advisory Board and all related activities including the expansion to new cities, networking events, receptions, and all volunteer efforts.

This position directs the Regional Alumni Councils in conjunction with bi-annual events that serve as fora to connect alumni, faculty, students, and the administration.

This position is responsible for all aspects of identifying, promoting, and developing programs for alumni in various segmented markets, insuring that the areas of the country with the highest concentration (A markets) of law alumni receive quality programs several times a year, while areas that have fewer alumni (B markets) will receive programs annually or every other year (C markets). This position designs marketing materials to attract and encourage alumni involvement in Law Center and University programs.

Work Interactions

The Associate Director reports directly to the Assistant Vice President, Law Alumni Engagement. The Assistant Vice President reports to the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement, Georgetown University Alumni Association, with a dotted line report to the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations at the Law Center.
