Job Description:


Responsible to the Athletics Director for the overall management and leadership of the intercollegiate Baseball program. This program will support the philosophy, mission, and standards of Central College, the American Rivers Conference (ARC) and the NCAA, Division III. Responsible to the Athletic Event Director for management of athletic events.


  • Develop and maintain a highly competitive intercollegiate program within rules and regulations of the institution, the American Rivers Conference, and NCAA Division III.
  • Plan, organize, and manage all phases of the baseball program including teaching student-athlete skill development and mental/motivating techniques for competition, scheduling and supervision of practice and game sessions, supervision and evaluation of assistant coach(s) and other support staff members in an efficient and productive manner, monitoring and maintaining the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program.
  • Develop a yearly recruiting plan and budget to recruit and retain academically qualified student-athletes within the guidelines of Central College, the ARC and NCAA Division III while collaborating with the admission office staff and counselors for contacts, campus visits, and other recruiting activities.
  • Maintain a roster that is competitive within the ARC and NCAA, Division III and supports the college enrollment strategy / mission. Monitor student-athlete progression in collaboration with academic affairs to ensure graduation, retention, and eligibility.
  • Manage the baseball program budget in collaboration with the associate athletics director of business affairs.
  • Develop an out of season strength and conditioning program in collaboration with the Strength and Conditioning staff/coaches in accordance with NCAA rules.
  • Develop and direct camps, clinics, and fund-raising activities to support the program.
  • Work cooperatively with faculty members, admission, alumni, and development office personnel, the sports information director, all student support services, and all athletic department personnel.
  • Attend staff development activities and coach's meetings.
  • Oversee operations of events and tournaments including but not limited to: meet and greet officials, visiting teams, and other event staff. Pick-up cash boxes and tickets for gates, and secure following ticket sells. Venue set-up and tear down / cleanup as necessary. Supervise student staff at an event.
  • Serve as point of contact for risk management and site management.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred
  • Three to five years of coaching experience required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified or ability to obtain certification within six months required
  • Ability to travel; night and week-end work required
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to be insured to drive college vehicles required
