Adjunct Faculty- Chemistry POSITION SUMMARY:

Adjunct Faculty are higher education instructors who are contracted on a term-by-term basis to teach an undergraduate course in face-to-face format. Course load not to exceed 17 semester hours per calendar year.

RESPONSIBILITIES: To serve as faculty member for the Biology/Chemistry department. Teaching responsibilities include lectures for Chemistry for the Life Sciences (CHEM 105, 2-credits) in the fall 2023 semester and lectures and labs for Matter and Energy (CHEM 155, 3-credits) for the spring 2024
semester. Both of these courses are non-major introductory chemistry courses primarily serving pre-nursing, elementary education and general education students.

CHEM 105 runs during Session II of the fall 2023 semester only (October 23 – December 15) and CHEM 155 starts on January 10, 2024.

Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree in chemistry or related field.

Experience: Teaching or training experience required.

Competencies:

    Strong interpersonal skills

    Time management skills. Instructors must be able to devote adequate time to courses, communicating timely feedback and engaging regularly in discussions.

    Planning and Organizational skills

    Effective written and oral communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Within the general range of an office environment.
