Human Resources Generalist, Compliance

Jacksonville State University (JSU) is seeking to hire a Human Resources Generalist, Compliance.

Human Resources Compliance Generalist is responsible for supporting a variety of tasks for a busy University Counsel and Human Resources Department and is involved in providing data analytics, audits, contract maintenance, document review, and assists with HR-related inquiries and projects. The Human Resource Compliance Generalist will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s university counsel and human resource department. The position will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Examine alleged violations of employment laws and university policies
  • Contract maintenance
  • Prepare reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to leadership
  • Maintain university counsel’s budget
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Generate and maintain accurate departmental reports as needed; compiles personnel data and prepares reports using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Access.
  • Collect and compile HR (Human Resources) data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS) and payroll outputs, management, and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government labor statistics, competitors’ practices, and other sources.
  • Interpret and apply personnel policies and procedures and works closely with internal HR staff and hiring managers in applying and maintaining compliance with Fair Labor Standards, Federal and State Employment laws and regulations, as well as JSU policies and procedures.
  • Assist with employee accommodation requests
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree along with at least four (4) years' Human Resources or Legal Office experience.

The preferred candidate will possess the following:

  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations including Title VII, FMLA, ADA and affirmative action
  • Significant experience using Microsoft Word to prepare letters, reports, legal briefs, etc. with a professional appearance.
  • Experience in an administrative assistant role
  • Experience with contract management software, including administering contracts, etc.

This position has an anticipated start date of June 1, 2023.
