Adjunct for Critical Reading and Writing

Trinity Washington University is seeking qualified ESL adjunct faculty to teach the following course in Fall 2023: Critical Reading and Writing Seminar 101 (4 credits), to students from diverse ages, ethnicities, languages, and academic backgrounds. 

Classes are 75 minutes long. Additionally, since this is a 4-credit course, classes meet on Fridays for 50 minutes with the same beginning time. We are seeking instructors who are available on the following days and times:

MWF: 1:30 – 2:45 pm

MWF: 3:00 – 4:15 pm

Pedagogical expectations include

    Creating an environment that is conducive to learning Encouraging students to interact with one another, practice, and improve their English-speaking skills Conducting activities and lessons based on ESL teaching methodologies Encouraging and engaging students to speak, write, and read in English

Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience

Master’s in TESL, TESOL, applied linguistics with a Language (ESL) TESL emphasis, linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis or education with a TESL emphasis

Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience as an ESL adjunct faculty/teacher or a similar role.

Official transcripts for all degrees earned, sample course syllabi, course evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three professional references will be needed if the candidate is invited to campus for an interview. Knowledge of best teaching practices is required. Finalists will be invited to campus for an interview and teaching demonstration. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence with engaged and active learning practices, with strong backgrounds in higher education pedagogy and classroom instruction.
