Position Summary:

The individual in this position provides reference service at the Information Desk. This is a part-time (evening/weekend) non-exempt position providing reference services.
Employed August through May, two evenings and one weekend day (640 annual hours)

Description of Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide reference service at the Information Desk
2. Maintain building security, including responsibility for opening and/or closing the building, when required
3. Supervise student assistants during evening and weekend hours
4. Handle requests directed to library staff member on duty
5. Complete projects assigned by Coordinator of Outreach and Liaison Services
6. Perform other related duties as appropriately assigned

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The individual in this position provides reference service at the Information Desk. The individual in this position must cooperate as a team member with the library staff in performing duties essential to efficient library operations. Because the duties of this position require personal interactions with students, faculty, administration, staff, and vendors, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Education/Training:

Bachelor’s degree, and must have completed at least 18 graduate credit hours in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution.

Experience:

Reference service experience or training is required. Experience and background in an integrated online environment required. Experience and background in electronic information resources is required.
