Academic Program Coordinator (Multiple Positions)

College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies

The University of Tennessee College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies (CECS) invited applications for the position of Academic Program Coordinator. This position reports to the associate dean and serves the colleges program directors in the day-to-day operations of the college academic programs, such as coordination, administration, and marketing of CECS curricula, assessment of CECS programs, etc. This position will be responsible for assisting with development and implementation for the outreach, recruitment and retention efforts made by the college.

The role includes managing the calendar of the Associate Dean, scheduling meetings for college operations, overseeing daily program activities, coordinating, working orientation sessions, commencement, and other CECS-sponsored activities, approving equipment, and supplies purchases, and reviewing operating practices and procedures.

Additionally, this person will be responsible for maintaining student records and updated curriculum and processes information (e.g., program launch and assessment data, curriculum proposals, timetables for courses and potential scheduling conflicts, and the student internship process).  

The College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies is one of UTK’s newest colleges recently launched to address the rapidly changing landscape of future careers and how higher education can meet them. As a land-grant, flagship, R-1 research institution, UTK maintains a vision for “a world enriched by our ideas, improved through action, and inspired by the Volunteer Spirit of service and leadership.” (https://chancellor.utk.edu/vision/). CECS has been created to move this vision forward.  Under the dynamic leadership of Interim Vice Provost of Academic Affairs and Dean, our senior leadership team will deepen UTK impact as researchers and scholars on the future of higher education. CECS will be a unique and innovative model for creating and launching new courses and programs on emerging, interdisciplinary programs by leveraging expertise across all colleges on campus.

Within a fifteen-minute commute of campus, Knoxville offers a diverse range of housing from downtown lofts to homes in historic tree-lined neighborhoods. The city and county offer strong public and private K-12 educational options including public international baccalaureate, art and science magnet programs, as well as private, religious, and Montessori schools. Knoxville's neighborhoods benefit from easy access to parks and multi-use trail systems. The nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park and TVA reservoir-lakes provide stellar outdoor recreation including biking, water sports, climbing, and hiking.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

BS degree in Education, Communication, Instructional Design and Technology, Psychology, or in a related field to student services. Minimum 2 years of experience in academic administrative roles or academic advising, Effective project management and organizational skills. Ability to devise, develop collect and analyze data and reports. Prefer experience in collaborating with college university faculty and administrators. Knowledge of developing programs and activities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present material in a way that enhances participant learning, engagement, and knowledge retention. Ability to use a variety of training methods, tools, techniques, and formats. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of faculty, staff, students, and families.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree preferred. Preference given to individuals with experience in a higher education institution, or other highly complex and decentralized organization. Experience supervising and directing workers, student workers, and contracted vendors.
