Postdoctoral Research Associate

Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering 

Focus: Multiscale systems modeling of plant iron homeostasis.

Description: A postdoctoral research scholar position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Belinda Akpa at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The postdoc will work collaboratively with plant cell biologists in the Long lab at North Carolina State University on an NSF-funded project that iteratively integrates computation and experiments to uncover the molecular rules governing iron homeostasis in Arabidopsis thaliana. (NSF # 2138243).



Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Applicants must have their Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Mathematical Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience with any of the following is particularly desirable: parameter estimation and uncertainty quantification, statistical inference, machine learning.
  • The appointment is on an annual basis and renewable for up to 3 years.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated facility with cross-disciplinary communication and experience with mathematical modeling that includes working with varied experimental datasets.
