Position Summary:

The Department of Psychology and Counseling at Arkansas State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology, with expertise in Cognitive Psychology and/or Forensic Psychology. Position to begin August 2024

Duties & Responsibilities:

    Primary teaching responsibilities will include Cognitive Psychology and/or Forensic Psychology. Forensic Psychology has been offered in the past as a seminar and it is regularly requested by potential and current students. Depending on the background and interest of the candidate, other courses within our curriculum will be available. We also welcome the development of other new classes in your specific specialty areaFaculty have the opportunity to work with and mentor students as part of their research labsOther duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Approximately 10 faculty are in the core undergraduate BS Psychology degree program, and there are many opportunities for collaborations within the program. Faculty have a wide range of specializations, including psychometrics of forensic measurements, biofeedback within a forensic context, and social influence on jury decision making and legal psychology. The department also houses counseling and school psychology programs and cross program collaboration often take place

Minimum Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in Psychology, preferred emphasis in Cognitive or Forensic psychology. Candidates who are advanced ABDs will be considered at the rank of instructor until the dissertation is defended

The Arkansas State University System is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Governor of Arkansas to serve staggered seven-year terms. The trustees hire the system president, approve the curriculum, annually approve an operating budget, and establish policies for the efficient and effective operation of the institutions.
