Job Description:

The Director of Accounting Information Systems reports to the Senior Associate Comptroller & Director of Accounting & Payroll. The director manages all accounting, financial reporting, and mail services functions. This position provides management of accounting information systems, and software, including Workday Finance and Payroll processing modules, third party software, and external vendor technology. The director also manages internal electronic processes, IRS reporting, and foreign national specialist.

Salary: $90,000- $100,000

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists management of budget and accounting functions, including directing and coordinating the College’s budget management function and ensuring that the College’s accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Financial systems maintenance, including coordination with IT staff on maintenance of College-wide management information system and the College’s online billing and payment system. Manage the process of implementing additional applications of the online billing and payment system. In addition, maintain and update the College’s access roles for Workday reporting the campus-wide financial account system.

  • Manages the Treasury Management administrative function, including monitoring bank accounts in online banking system, submitting and posting wire transfers/ACH transactions.

  • Coordinates and manages external audit at fiscal year-end, including preparation of the College’s financial statements and resolution of audit issues, supervision of the accounting staff in preparation of work papers, and valuation of all balance sheet accounts. This also includes managing the process of fee and expense payments to auditors and actuaries.

  • Coordinates external financial reporting. This includes working with the College’s external auditors in preparation of annual financial statements, financial reports for the College’s credit rating agencies, financial aid program financial reports for Department of Education and Federal Audit Clearinghouse, external grant financial reports including payment requests on federal grants, IPEDS financial report, and all other surveys that require financial information. Prepares and transmits the College’s Form 990, Form 990-T.

  • Identifies training needs of end users and develops and provides the necessary training to meet those needs.

  • Develops custom reports to meet the requirements of college management and staff.

  • Advises and consults on electronic interface programs with external vendors as it relates to the college banking accounts, retirement vendors, Federal and state tax payments and employment and earnings reporting.

  • Manages all aspects of foreign national compensation and IRS compliance and reporting for all foreign student employees, (including scholarships and aid), and foreign visitors and guest compensation., Preparation, disbursement, and transmission of IRS tax forms: W-2, 1042, 1098T, etc.

  • Cross trains and serves as backup to Payroll Manager, Accounts Payable Manager, and Senior Associate Comptroller & Director of Accounting & Payroll.

  • Regular attendance is an essential function to perform the duties of this position.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s of Art required; master's degree preferred

  • C.P.A. preferred

  • 7 years of combined experience in Accounting

  • Must demonstrate knowledge in a variety of AIS concepts and procedures, and accounting processes, reporting, and GAAP compliance

  • Workday experience is strongly preferred
