Job Summary

Design, develop, and test reporting solutions that meet enterprise needs for decision making. Implement, upgrade, and support reporting, analytics and business intelligence solutions to meet the information needs and the strategic goals of a large unit or across units. Analyze reporting requirements, enterprise data model and data integration to deliver enterprise solutions. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: GT leadership, staff, application users, vendors, and IT partners.This position typically will advise and counsel: IT partners, vendors, other Business Intelligence Developers, Business Analysts, or Applications Support staff.This position will supervise: N/A.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Analyze functional needs that drive reporting solutions. Recommend solutions that support decision making and are aligned with Institute standards and processes.

Job Duty 2 -
Provide system integration and advise managers on complex technical issues.

Job Duty 3 -
Design, develop and update reporting solutions that meet targeted and enterprise needs.

Job Duty 4 -
Develop metadata layer in enterprise reporting tool(s).

Job Duty 5 -
Identify and gather requirements for testing, develop test plans, ensure the development of test scripts and coordinate test transmissions as required. Verify the collected data is within required quality standards.

Job Duty 6 -
Research and implement best practices, standards, and development strategies in enterprise reporting tools.

Job Duty 7 -
Work with data architects and recommend how data should be stored to maximize reporting efficiency.

Job Duty 8 -
Identify and provide input to new technology opportunities that will have an impact on the enterprise wide BI systems. Research products for integration into campus use.

Job Duty 9 -
Provide guidance, training, and problem solving assistance to other team members.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
Business Analysis or related technical experience required

Required Experience
Four to six years of job related experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications
University experience and familiarity with GT platforms

  • Ability to set development standards
  • Familiar with PeopleSoft HR, Peoplesoft Financials, and Banner
  • Experience with Workday and OneUSG Connect

SKILLS
This job requires strong business intelligence skills; ability to set development standards; strong data skills (SQL), ability to work in a team environment; skills in project management, work leadership, presentation, customer service and problem solving are required.

Salary range: $72,811.00 - $125,235.00

Other Information Overview: The primary function of the Business Intel Developer II position in the College of Engineering will entail creating data dashboards/datasets to support the COE leadership team and COE Schools with decision-making related to the student experience, development, enrollment, mandatory reporting, research, diversity initiatives, and financial/human resources plans and processes. The position will assist with interpretation of these datasets within COE, with the tracking of performance metrics related to the College’s Strategic Plan, and with the submission of data for annual surveys, such as those administered by US News and ASEE.

This position will report directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Engineering (COE) and may have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Director of Data Management in the Office of Institute Research and Planning (IRP). While supporting COE initiatives and projects, the position may sit with the Office of Institute Research and Planning.
