Job Description:

Program Delivery
Plan, organize, schedule and conduct a variety of program activities and events. Serve in a training role for volunteer leaders by providing them with program ideas and materials. Teach groups of adults and youth utilizing prepared curricula. Prepare demonstration materials to aid in the presentation of classes. Examples are: print materials, visual aids, or power point presentation. Prepare and distribute 4-H newsletter and update 4-H website. Attend local, district, and state activities and events in place of the County Extension Agents.

Reporting
Update 4-H financial transactions weekly and prepare year-end 4-H financial summary. Enter data in 4-H Online to track program participants. Assist youth and volunteers with enrollment and event registration in 4-H Online.

Planning
Plans and prepares lessons and materials. Continues to improve knowledge of subject matter and teaching methods.

Training
Develops and improves knowledge of 4-H youth development subject matter, becomes more proficient in determining clientele needs, understands various methods of reaching and teaching clientele, and develops proficiency in using 4-H youth development materials via participation in orientation training, continuous on-the-job training and self-study.

Travel
Travels according to 4-H youth development policy.
Performs other duties as assigned. Examples include but are not limited to supporting the Extension office as a team player by assisting in answering the telephone, distributing messages, and other general office duties as needed in order to support the mission of UF/IFAS Extension
SUPERVISION
Verbal and written instructions for training purposes, program delivery, and procedural forms. Additional instructions on an as-needed basis. Must be able to work independently and in a team. The 4-H Agent supervises this position directly.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE
Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, this position will require irregular work hours (after 5:00 pm) in the evenings and/or on weekend as requested and approved by the 4-H Program Agent and County Extension Director

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW.
Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida driver's license.
Complete and pass the Level 2 DCF background screening and the University of Florida's Youth Protections Training (#YCS800).

OTHER CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION
Work is primarily performed in an indoor, climate-controlled environment but depending on assignment, may have some degree of exposure to environmental changes (e.g. outdoor weather and/or field conditions), extreme noises, odors, heights, and/or dust. Stooping, walking, sitting, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and talking. Depending on assignment, may require lifting of 10-25 pounds and occasional lifting to 50 pounds.

POLICY MAKING AND/OR INTERPRETATION.
Work as a team with immediate supervisor, 4-H Youth Development Agent, and the County Extension Director when implementing policy. Specifically address UF/IFAS Extension 4-H youth development related policy.

PROGRAM DIRECTION AND DEVELOPMENT.
Use customer/community needs and input during program planning and development. Work with 4-H Youth Development Agent, advisory committees and stakeholders for guidance and direction on scope of program development.

COMMUNICATION
Work (internal county and UF) daily with program planning and administration duties. Daily communication with 4-H Youth Development Agent, 4-H volunteers, parents, and members about activities and programs. Communicates regularly with 4-H club leaders and volunteers.

MONETARY RESPONSIBILITY.
Collect funds from 4-H clubs, 4-H fundraising events and other 4-H donations. Assists with check requests and deposit requests. Verifies monetary transactions for accuracy. Balances and maintains bank accounts.

STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONFIDENTIAL DATA.
Process volunteer applications and record of volunteer service. Process youth enrollment and health applications. Collect and protect confidential information.

CREATIVITY, STRATEGY AND LEADERSHIP.
Assist the 4-H Youth Development Agent to create new programming and re-evaluate regular programming. Create new opportunities to serve the community.

This is a Time-Limited Position.

Expected Salary:

$16.00 - $17.50/hour, commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Effective written and oral communication skills.
Experience working with diverse youth and adult audiences.
Time management and customer service skills
Skills in planning a variety of programs for the target audiences.
Knowledge of county and state policies and procedures.
Knowledge of records management principles.
Knowledge of program financial management procedures.
Ability to work with and instruct youth through innovative and non-formal methods.
Skills in standard office equipment and computer software applications.
Skills in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports.
