Job Description:


BASIC FUNCTION:


Reporting to the Executive Director of Alumni & Family Engagement and Annual Giving, the Annual Giving Officer serves as a co-manager and thought partner for setting strategy and implementing annual giving programs. This role is responsible for developing and executing fundraising programs that engage and generate philanthropic support from alumni and parents with an emphasis on special initiatives, athletic and young alumni giving.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Foster a collaborative and empowering work environment rooted in Salve Regina University's Mercy mission: demonstrate empathic leadership through the positive engagement of Advancement team members and campus partners.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, and in collaboration with the strategy set by the Senior Director of Annual Giving Programs, plan and facilitate annual calendar of solicitations through multi-channels that coordinate with University Advancement programming and communications including, scheduling, concept, design, content, data segmentation, production and delivery.
  • Work on tracking and benchmarking annual giving results and progress, including traffic via digital channels. Maintain planning documents, including calendars and tracking documents.
  • Opportunities to lead and manage special initiatives and programs to grow alumni participation in annual giving:
  • Actively engage volunteers, students, and alumni to grow a base of stakeholders for special programs such Salve Day of Giving, GivingTuesday, and Seahawks Take Flight (athletics). Work with the Senior Director of Annual Giving Programs to set fundraising strategy for these initiatives.
  • Facilitate all aspects of the Student Calling Program including shift management, hiring and training of student managers and calling staff, statistical performance analysis, caller incentives, segmentation, and pledge follow-up. Continually assess effectiveness and viability of this channel and make strategic adjustments.
  • In coordination with the Alumni & Family Engagement and Annual Giving Officer, facilitate affinity-based calling nights for athletics, clubs, and other student groups.
  • Work in conjunction with the Philanthropy Officer in partnership with coaches, students and alumni for athletic engagement and fundraising programs.
  • Along with the Assistant Director of Alumni & Family Engagement, co-manage a young alumni volunteer group, including digital advocates, engagement, and giving to build lifelong engagement and build a culture of philanthropy among young alumni.
  • Provide support for frontline gift officers and advancement staff for annual giving calling days, year-end solicitations and other direct-calling activities.
  • Work with a portfolio of annual giving prospects appropriate to the role for annual fund support.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Perform other duties as required by the Executive Director of Alumni & Family Engagement and Annual Giving.


LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:


Valid driver's license required.


ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:


The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.



Requirements:


  • An ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership qualities, creative thinking and enthusiasm for the fundraising objectives of Salve Regina University. S/he will be comfortable communicating directly with stakeholders, including volunteers, alumni, students, and faculty/staff.
  • A Bachelor's degree and two years of fundraising or related experience required. Volunteer management or student engagement experience preferred. Working knowledge of email design software, web design and content management preferred. Experience with relational database programs and online constituent management systems like Blackbaud or Sales Force preferred. Potential for the position to be graded as an Assistant Director of Annual Giving with two years of direct Annual Giving experience.
  • Must have ability to work collaboratively; excellent oral and written communication skills; attention to detail and strong organizational, technical, and analytical skills. Must demonstrate proficiency with project management, timelines and setting priorities. Proficiency with popular social media platforms and Microsoft Office software applications required.
  • Ability to work evenings and some weekends required. A hybrid work schedule is available.
