GENERAL SUMMARY: 

A research coordinator is needed for federally funded projects to study childhood language and literacy development and disorders. The projects involve data collection in local school districts, as well as data processing in the lab. The research coordinator will oversee recruitment, scheduling, data management, data collection, and adherence to study protocols, among other responsibilities.

This position will provide invaluable experience for anyone interested in pursuing a graduate or a postgraduate degree in the fields of communication sciences and disorders, experimental psychology, educational psychology, or special education.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Please note, the functions below are representative of major duties that are typically associated with these positions. Specific responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs. Similarly, not all duties that have been outlined will be assigned to each position.  

  • Recruitment of participants, communication with caregivers, & scheduling of sessions; 10%
  • Data management (REDCap, video archiving); 10%
  • Data collection; 70%
  • Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to conducting literature reviews, organizing and maintaining databases; 5%
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein; 5%

  • Administrative Skills - Organization, time management
  • Technical Skills - Technically proficiency with video recording and laptop

Qualifications
EDUCATION: 

    Bachelor’s degree (required) in a scientific or social science/education field, preferably in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written) Experience working with families and/or school age children preferred Previous research experience is preferred. The candidate must be self-motivated, independent, mature and able to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
EXPERIENCE: 

  • New graduates with some relevant course/project work or those without any prior research experience will be considered for the Clinical Research Coordinator I position outlined above. 
  • Those with a minimum of 1-2 years of directly related work experience will be considered for a Clinical Research Coordinator II position. 
WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a 40 hour per week position that includes hours between 7a-3p each weekday.
  • MGH IHP is located in the Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston, MA.
  • Travel to and from partnering school districts is required during working hours.
