Job OverviewAs one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.A part-time (50% full-time equivalency) Assistant Professor adjunct faculty position is available in the Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The Division Director of Public Health Sciences will be at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Education track.

The Public Health Program is a Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH)-accredited graduate program offering the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. This program is among the largest graduate programs in the Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences (DEPHS) and fastest growing in the College of Medicine (COM). It currently has over 150 full and part-time students, and offers seven concentrations including biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental public health, global health, health education and promotion, health services and management, and occupational public health. As such, DEPHS, is accepting applications for a part—time appointment as an Epidemiology Concentration Director.

As a part-time Epidemiology Concentration Director in the department, this position will be expected to mentor and advise student activities in the graduate public health program, as well as support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity. Moreover, as a part-time Epidemiology Concentration Director, this position will have the opportunity to collaborate through educational and service activities with public health community partners, such as the Cincinnati Public Health Department, the Hamilton County Public Health Department, and the Northern Kentucky Health Department. In addition, collaborative activities are encouraged with leading health systems, including Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center; the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and its affiliated for profit and non-for-profit organizations; and federal agencies, such as the EPA and NIOSH.

Essential Functions
  • Responsibilities for the clinical, research and teaching activities for our students, residents, and fellows.
  • Administration and supervision of the education and research programs of the division.
  • Building upon the university’s public health offerings, including MD/MPH degree and the interdisciplinary undergraduate degree in public health.
  • Working closely with core public health and participating faculty of DEPHS to build the various academic programs in public health by development collaborations with a variety of intramural and extramural partners, teach public health courses, mentor undergraduate and graduate students and be involved in leadership of DEPHS as a member of the department’s leadership team.
Minimum Requirements
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DPH or MD) from competitive academic program in a relevant field (public health, health education, healthcare delivery science, behavioral health, health administration).
