Job Summary:

The Enterprise Business Analyst manages the University’s use of database information systems, ensuring that software is deployed in ways that meet the data and business process needs of both departmental end users and the University as a whole. The analyst serves as a liaison between end users, vendors and information systems personnel to achieve outcomes, and possesses sufficient technical knowledge so as to be able to design, code and implement database/system solutions and support users in maximizing the effectiveness of tools. The analyst further guides institutional efforts to establish and maintain data integrity and aligns business processes with requirements to maintain it.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Project management for implementation of EMU’s Jenzabar ERP
  • Maintains understanding of Jenzabar platform feature and upgrade development
  • Communicates regularly with each campus department using Jenzabar database functions to ensure employees are knowledgeable of product updates and new functionality
  • Manages projects to roll-out new Jenzabar features/functionality to current users and to deploy Jenzabar in support of new offices/business processes
  • Supports database administrator in managing regular and ad hoc database upgrades, updates and customization
  • Provides backup support to database administrator for management of Jenzabar users and permissions
  • Coordinates Jenzabar implementation and consulting services when necessary
  • Jenzabar ERP programming and administrative support
  • Designs and program processes and reports using SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Integration Services, and Infomaker
  • Responds to user support requests and troubleshoots, resolves, and escalates issues to vendor support
  • Documents all changes and new processes developed
  • Administrative oversight for secondary database/information management systems
  • Maintains familiarity with and provides support and oversight for database systems that support key university business needs and interface with the Jenzabar ERP. Systems include (but are not limited to): Salesforce (recruitment/marketing), Pardot (marketing), Paycom (HR information system)
  • Maintains familiarity with database/application systems that use data from the Jenzabar ERP
  • Supports secondary database/system users in making effective use of available tools/functionality
  • Supports users in identifying and implementing business processes that allow for effective and efficient use of databases/systems
  • Serves as liaison between information systems and departments/users relying on secondary databases/systems, ensuring that open lines of communication and shared understanding exist
  • Oversight of University Data Systems and Governance Work
  • Provides leadership to the cross-functional data systems and governance committee (DSGC)
  • Advances and promotes good data practices and data integrity across departments, including:
  • Processes for operational data management
  • Documentation for data entities and requirements
  • Processes for change management, testing and validation
  • Creates opportunities for training around data integrity, data management best practices and facilitating peer-to-peer learning
  • Manages the prioritization of staff efforts to improve data systems and processes
  • Oversees project-based work teams commissioned by the data systems & governance committee
  • Collaborates with Institutional Research to ensure that university data structures and data quality support advanced reporting and data analytics
Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Be on call and work unusual hours (in limited cases).

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience supporting higher education ERP systems, project management and facilitation of collaboration or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must occasionally travel to meetings and conferences off campus, which may include some overnight travel.
