Job Description or Duties: The Coordinator for Access Services, University of Nebraska at Kearney, is responsible for providing leadership and management for the access services functions of the Calvin T. Ryan Library. This highly visible position includes overseeing circulation services, developing and revising policies and procedures, employee training, physical stacks maintenance, and reporting issues to facilities and maintenance offices. The position is also involved in the library’s reference and instructional services and provides liaison services to academic departments. This position is expected to include evening and weekend hours. This is a twelve-month, tenure-track faculty appointment reporting to the Dean of the Library.

Required Qualifications: 

ALA-accredited master’s degree in Library Science.

Experience in the access services or circulation department of an academic or public library.

Experience providing basic reference services, using online databases, library catalogs, etc.

Flexibility to adjust schedule for peak activity periods and emergencies.

Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with library and campus colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:   

Management or supervisory experience in the access services or circulation department of an academic or large public library.


Experience in working with diverse cultures and communities.


Proven ability to retrieve and analyze data, assess operations and services, and implement improvements.


Familiarity with building maintenance procedures and controls.


Familiarity with the ALA Code of Ethics, copyright and open access best practices.


Ability to work toward achieving tenure and promotion.
