The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine invites applicants for the position of Staff Psychiatrist at Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), Vaden Student Health Center. This is a 0.5 FTE (half-time), 12-month recurring position with a Clinician Educator appointment.
CAPS provides a full range of mental health services to Stanford's 18,000+ student body. CAPS is staffed with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals who are dedicated to the pursuit of clinical excellence, organizational diversity, and social justice. Vaden Health Center is within the Division of Student Affairs, which advances student development and learning, fosters community engagement, and empowers students and staff to thrive.
The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to cultural humility and equity. They will be able to showcase a history of working across diverse identities (including but not limited to race, gender, sexuality, religion, and ability status) and demonstrate their commitment to inclusivity. The candidate will have a working understanding of the strengths of diverse students as well as an awareness of the role that systems play in privileging certain groups of students while marginalizing others. Finally, the successful candidate will have the skills to provide culturally sensitive care.
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide psychiatric services to Stanford's diverse student community, and to support the training and clinical educational missions within CAPS and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
CORE DUTIES:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong preference will be given to candidates with:
- 3 or more years of post-licensure work history and/or experience working in university counseling centers.
- Work or lived experience relevant to serving historically underserved communities, including but not limited to the following:
Physician applicants must have a medical degree or equivalent degree, completed training in General Psychiatry, be board-certified or board-eligible in General Psychiatry, and possess or be fully eligible for a California medical license. Finalist candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and complete the Stanford School of Medicine credentialing process prior to employment. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Appointments to the Clinician Educator faculty line are primarily defined by engagement in clinical care and teaching that advances clinical medicine, in addition to opportunities to engage in scholarly activities and/or administrative leadership.
The pay offered to the selected candidate for this position will be based on experience and rank, with the half-time pay based upon a full-time salary base of $220,000-252,000.
Stanford provides exceptional benefits to Clinician Educator faculty, including generous faculty housing assistance, and has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
