Job Description:

The Department of Clinical and Health Psychology in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida is seeking applicants for an exciting full-time Clinical Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) position in Clinical Neuropsychology.

This position will involve both direct clinical services, as well as participation in the Department's mission of training and supervising clinical psychology doctoral graduate students in evidence-based medicine.

Work will be in the areas of traditional neuropsychological assessment of dementia, movement disorders, and neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, as well as delirium and post-operative cognitive decline after major surgery. Additionally, the position will work with interdisciplinary medical teams that include a broad range of professionals including anesthesiology, cardiothoracic surgery, orthopedic surgery, nursing, neurosurgery, and neurology.

The Department of Clinical and Health (http://chp.phhp.ufl.edu/) is a free-standing clinical psychology department within a CEPH-accredited College of Public Health, which allows it to establish its own missions in research, teaching, and service to the larger University community. The Department has over 40 core faculty, more than 80 doctoral students, and two APA-accredited programs: a doctoral program in clinical psychology and a clinical internship in professional psychology. The Department has a 60-year history of providing APA-accredited doctoral and internship training in clinical psychology and advanced specialty-specific training in four major areas of study: Neuropsychology, Clinical Health Psychology, Clinical Child and Pediatric Psychology, and Cognitive and Emotion Neuroscience.

The University of Florida (www.ufl.edu ) is a comprehensive research-extensive university. The College of Public Health and Health Professions (www.phhp.ufl.edu) is part of the University of Florida's Academic Health Center. The UF Academic Health Center (https://ufhealth.org/about-us) is the only AHC in the country with six colleges located on a single, contiguous campus. These include Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine. The Academic Health Center also partners with the adjacent UF Health Shands Hospital, the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, and the UF Academic Health Center Regional campus located in Jacksonville, FL. Additional major institutes and centers at the University of Florida include the Institute of Child Health Policy, the UF Health Cancer Center, the UF Genetics Institute, the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the McKnight Brain Institute, all of which provide state-of-the-art environments and access to large data sets for faculty collaboration.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and be licensed or licensed-eligible in the State of Florida.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include:
  • expertise in neuropsychological assessment of dementia, movement disorders, and neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, as well as an enthusiasm for topics of delirium and post-operative decline after major surgery
  • interest in working with multidisciplinary medical teams
  • one year of post-doctoral work
