Vice Provost for Outreach and Engagement

Texas Tech University (TTU) invites nominations, inquiries and applications for the role of vice provost for outreach and engagement. This leadership role will serve as a facilitator and connector of internal university partners to external partners interested and involved in outreach and engagement work. The position will report to the provost.

Texas Tech University is a Carnegie R1 (Very High Research Activity) university founded in 1923 and offers more than 150 undergraduate, 100 master's and 50 doctoral degree programs from 13 colleges and schools. Texas Tech is one of only 16 Hispanic Serving Institutions included in the Carnegie R1 category. The university received its tenth consecutive Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT into Diversity magazine. A part of the Texas Tech University System formed in 1996, it is one of the top public university systems in Texas and the nation, consisting of five component institutions - Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Angelo State University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso and Midwestern State University operating at more than a dozen academic sites and centers.

Texas Tech University is located on a beautiful 1,850-acre campus in Lubbock, Texas, a rapidly growing city with a population of nearly 300,000 people. Referred to as the “Hub City” because it serves as the educational, cultural, economic and health care hub of the South Plains region, Lubbock boasts a diverse population and a strong connection to community, history and land. The university enrolls over 40,000 students with 33,000 undergraduate and 7,000 graduate students. The university supports an NCAA Division I athletics program and is a member of the Big 12 Conference.

This leadership role will champion and foster scholarly work - both research and creative activities - to address the problems and concerns of community partners. To further the university's role as a leader in outreach and engagement, the new vice provost will work closely with the Office of the Provost and university faculty and staff to innovate and implement the recommendations outlined in the strategic plan which includes transforming lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship as one of its three strategic priorities. The vice provost will be responsible for the Office of Outreach and Engagement, The Museum of Texas Tech, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OOLI) and the Texas Tech University Press as well as other efforts designed to promote engaged scholarship.
