Description Responsibilities

The Department of English invites applicants to apply for a faculty position as Assistant Professor of English (tenure-track). The successful candidate will assume responsibility for providing 27 credit hours of instruction in English per academic year. The Assistant Professor will primarily teach writing and literature courses in the day, evening, and online programs; maintain office hours, attend meetings, and participate in the governance of the college at the department, discipline, campus, and college-wide levels; and perform other duties within scope of this position as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications Qualifications

A minimum of a Ph.D. degree in English is required. The candidate should be a generalist who has current training in any one or more of the following areas: American Literature, creative writing, screenwriting, Gender Studies. The candidate must have prior experience teaching English at the collegiate level, possess strong oral and written communication skills, and be able to teach at the learning support level. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology and knowledge of assessment practices in composition is required. Must possess the ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to diverse students, and facilitate student learning.

SALARY: Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
