DIRECTOR OF RESIDENTIAL LIFE AND COMMUNITY STANDARDS
 

Bridgewater College’s Office of Residence Life, within the Division of Student Life, is hiring for the position of Director of Residential Life and Community Standards. The Director serves as the senior member of a robust Residence Life team for a thriving residential community of 1300 students and approximately 300 commuter students.

The next Director will be responsible for providing direction for a comprehensive residential and community experience, demonstrating a commitment to the ideals of the Student Life Curriculum at Bridgewater, embracing the objectives of fostering critical thinking, a sense of community, cultural appreciation, and identity development in all facets of their work. In addition to supporting the general work of student development and creating a vibrant residential experience, this position is expected to assist in managing crises, ensure the efficient management of all issues related to student behavioral concerns, and facilitate significant outreach with students through residential staff, often in the form of events, programming, and collaboration with the College’s CARE team.

The Director should be comfortable working collaboratively, both within and alongside the Division of Student Life, while providing training and development for the Residence Life professional staff who coach and mentor student staff, setting the tone and tenor for an engaging and capable student-staffed residential program. To ensure success, the Director will work closely with campus Facilities, in addition to other partners across campus, to ensure the strategic management and care for all residential spaces.

With a spirit of innovation and adaptability, the Director will ensure practices and policies are up to date, in compliance with all state and federal guidelines, and stay current on best practices for the residential experience, all student conduct and, working in conjunction with Student Engagement team, regulate student organization conduct as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Student Affairs or related discipline required 1-3 years of supervision or leadership experience required 1-3 years of Student Affairs related experience required Experience with Student Conduct required Previous training & experience with restorative practices preferred Maxient (or similar system) & Ellucian software experience required

Pay is competitive, and salary is commensurate with experience. This full-time position offers a full benefits package, including paid tuition at the College for eligible dependents.

Bridgewater offers bachelor’s degrees in approximately 60 majors and minors, along with four graduate programs, pre-professional programs such as medicine and law, and teacher licensure. The College is a member of NCAA Division III and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, with 23 intercollegiate athletic teams.
