General Summary of Position:

The School of Education at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an adjunct instructor in our Bachelor of Education, Elementary and Moderate Disabilities teacher education program. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching on-campus, face-to-face classes to undergraduate students.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in accordance with established syllabi
  • Prepare course materials
  • Deliver engaging and interactive classroom instruction
  • Evaluate and grade student work in a timely and effective manner
  • Facilitate field experiences in collaboration with program personnel
  • Communicate student concerns to program personnel
  • Attend program meetings
  • Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • A Master's degree in Elementary or Special Education or a closely related field
  • Experience teaching in the elementary or middle grades
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to teach on-campus, face-to-face classes during the day
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • A Doctorate in Elementary or Special Education or a closely related field
    • Higher education teaching experience
    • Experience mentoring pre-service or novice teachers
    • Experience teaching in Massachusetts K-12 public schools
    • Experience in literacy instruction is highly desired

    This is a part-time, non-benefited, Union of Adjunct Faculty, Local 1596, UAW position.

    Salary is competitive. The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic and collaborative team committed to providing high-quality education to undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Education program.
