The Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts within the emerging College of Human Development, Culture, and Media at Seton Hall University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Gaming and Animation.
The successful candidate will have professional and/or academic experience in one or more of the following areas: character development, storyboarding, 2D/3D animation, illustration, and game design. The candidate should have experience in Unreal Engine, Unity, and other current animation and gaming software. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in VR and the games for good sector.
In addition, we value candidates with experience teaching in person, online, and hybrid courses. We are very interested in candidates who can design new courses and help develop STEAM focused curricula that integrates the arts into STEM at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The new faculty member will advise students and be an active service member in the Department, College, and University. They will support and contribute to the College's culture of diversity, equity and inclusivity and participate in an interdisciplinary community dedicated to creative collaboration.
This position entails a 18-credit teaching requirement during the academic year, commensurate with Department needs, and is expected to begin in August 2023.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching courses in the B.A. in Art, Design and Interactive Multimedia major; maintaining an impactful creative scholarly practice; advising students; and contributing to program development and coordination. Faculty are also expected to be active members of the College and the broader University community. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to:
*Engage in visionary program building, including a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as the identification and implementation of courses and programs in related interdisciplinary areas, particularly Education and Human Services at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
*Teach existing undergraduate classes such as, but not limited to: Game Design; Video Animation & Motion Graphics; Intro to 3D Computer Graphics; Computer Animation;
*Create new courses on topics related to the candidate's area of expertise;
*Maintain ties to the professional design community;
*Participate actively in academic advisement, high-impact student learning activities, student mentoring, and other co- and extracurricular engagement activities;
*Commit to innovative recruitment and retention initiatives of both students and adjunct instructors; and;
*Commit to collaboration in growing a new, interdisciplinary college.

Launching in Summer 2023, Seton Hall's emerging College of Human Development, Culture, and Media (CHDCM) will be the singular place for purpose-built interdisciplinary learning focused on innovation along the continuum of human development.

Required Qualifications:
*MFA, MS, MAD, Master of Design or equivalent terminal degree in Animation, Game Design or a related field. Degree completion is required by August 2023.
*Evidence that the candidate will be able to develop a successful publication record appropriate for an R2 institution
