Job Details

The University of Lynchburg, located in central Virginia, is accepting applications for an assistant coach for women’s and men’s swimming. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Swimming and will be responsible for assisting with leadership to the swim program, recruitment, and retention of student-athletes, scheduling and team travel, budget management, and equipment purchases. The candidate must have a commitment to upholding the academic and athletic integrity and mission of the university, and compliance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations. Other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. This is a full-time 12-month position. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience.

The University of Lynchburg students have been recognized with 22 Academic All-American awards since 1996, 251 all-time All-Americans and Thirteen different athletics programs have qualified for NCAA play over the past six years.

Job Purpose: To assist the director of women’s and men’s swimming in the development and execution of a high-impact, success-oriented program that will empower students to accomplish their goals well beyond their time here on campus.

Specific Job Duties: Recruiting, coaching, student development, fundraising, resource development, practice planning, and execution.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and have the ability to understand, comprehend and follow directions
  • Successful swim experience in a high-level club or collegiate environment
  • Quality writing and communication skills using various technologies

Qualifications

Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year institution Successful collegiate Swimming experience is required. Strong interpersonal and communications skills; demonstrated organizational and management ability. The successful candidate must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the university.
