This position will support research for UND within the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace’s Aviation Department.
Duties & Responsibilities- The post-doctoral associate will assist in the design and conduct of simulation and experiments. The post-doc will perform experiments, data analysis, write research papers of her/his findings, submit grant proposals and expected to present the work at national/international forums. Working with other collaborators inside and outside of the UND campus, the postdoc research associate’s work may include, but is not necessarily limited to:
- Collect preliminary data and information on current air domain awareness (ADA) and Counter-UAS (CUAS) systems.
- Developing efficient detection models for counter-UAS, Data Fusion and UAV swarms
- Developing UAV swarm and one-to-many capabilities to obtain additional external funding.
- Conducting research on autonomous systems, networked systems and synergies with computer vision, applied machine learning, and flying Ad-hoc networks.
- Conduct internal and third party analysis of ADA and CUAS Systems.
- Submit, and assist submitting proposals for external funding.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Quantitative and analytical skills.
- Very good organizational skills.
- Interest in mentoring students.
- Ph.D. degree or successfully defended Ph. D. dissertation in the field Aerospace/Computer Science or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to publish and present peer-reviewed scientific products.
- Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications- Programming skills in Matlab, Python, or other scientific programming language.
- Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in fieldwork and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of ML/AI.
- Experience In Physics based simulations.
- Experience in developing Multi-Agent systems.
- Experience in Aviation.
