El Camino College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track (non-instructional) faculty member to join its Student Health Services team!

 

The Registered Nurse will provide confidential health care services to currently enrolled students, which includes health promotion, illness prevention, as well as health and psychoeducation.

 

The Registered Nurse will provide the following types of service to individuals in Student Health Services: first aid, student outreach, family planning education, Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing, mental health crisis assessment and referrals, general health screenings and acute medical services for common illnesses and injuries

 

The Registered Nurse will also provide health care services within ethical, legal, and therapeutic standards of care, will maintain RN licensure, continuing education requirements and adhere to the appropriate Scope of Practice for Registered Nurses as defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing, and will serve as a liaison with community health care professionals and local agencies in offering services, making effective referrals, and coordinating health care resources.

 

The Registered Nurse also assists with student accident reporting and insurance claims processing, ensures an appropriate inventory of medical supplies, equipment, and medications are maintained, and provides for appropriate procurement, storage, security and maintenance of inventory.

 

The Registered Nurse will work in a collaborative relationship with physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical psychologists, and classified employees, and will establish, review, and appropriately revise administrative, clinical and operational policies, procedures and protocols for Student Health Services.

 

Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the racial, socio-economic, academic, and cultural diversity within student populations, including students with disabilities, is required as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree in Nursing with a minimum of two years' experience in the discipline; AND

A valid, current California Registered Nursing License; AND

A current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certificate.

The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR

Valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355); AND

A demonstration may be required by those candidates selected to interview.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a California Public Health Nurse certificate.

Two years' experience in ambulatory and adult public health.

Prior experience in college health is highly desirable.

Prior experience in approaching work and interactions with colleagues and/or students in an equity minded manner and the ability to provide an inclusive and welcoming work/educational environment.

Commitment to diversity. Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of college students, and of individuals with disabilities. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how their experience with these factors relates to successfully achieving the goals of the position.

SALARY

The starting salary ranges from $69,194 - $100,718 depending on education and experience.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Contract shall be for a full-time tenure-track teaching assignment for the 2023 - 2024 academic year, beginning in August. INTERVIEW EXPENSES

Individuals identified for FINAL interviews are eligible to have expenses paid. Reimbursement will be limited to economy airfare (to and from point of origin) and for meals and lodging. The maximum allocated for meals, lodging and transportation is $600. Candidate must complete a Travel Request and Reimbursement Form and submit it together with all supporting documentation to Human Resources.
