Job Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida is seeking a faculty member to join an active and collegial group to serve as Division Chief for the Division of Pediatric Genetics and Metabolism. The Division consists of 4 pediatric geneticists, 1 advanced practitioner, 5 genetic counselors, 3 registered dieticians, 2 genetic counseling assistants, and 4 dedicated administrative staff. The Division provides comprehensive clinical care and diagnostic genetics services to pediatric patients referred for the evaluation of genetic disorders at Shands Children's Hospital, ranked #1 Children's Hospital in Florida in the 2022-2023 USNWR. We provide genetic care services to patients in numerous locations, including Tallahassee and Pensacola outreach clinics, Pediatric Specialties clinics, UF Health Shands Children's Hospital, telemedicine services, and any other locations established or expanded.

The Department of Pediatrics is committed to fostering innovation and advancing discovery in the biomedical and psychosocial aspects of child health and human development, educating and training pediatric scientists, and directly translating basic scientific discoveries into new patient-oriented therapies. In the most recent fiscal year, the department was home to over $30.5M in sponsored research. UF Health faculty work in multidisciplinary teams with researchers in the five other Health Science Center colleges, as well as those from across the University. The focus of team efforts is often grown out of the Centers and Institutes, including the Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute, the UF Genetics Institute, the Powell Gene Therapy Center, and the UF Health Cancer Center.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have a M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or other equivalent and be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Florida in Pediatrics and be board certified /eligible in the appropriate subspecialty.

Preferred Qualifications:

Board certified in both Medical Genetics and Biochemical Genetics.

Dynamic, passionate, and capable physician leader with a proven track record across the spectrum of collaborative clinical leadership, administrative experience, program development, faculty recruitment, and community engagement. A distinguished record of innovative leadership, scholarly accomplishments, and excellence in administration is sought. Management, education or training is highly desired.
