Job ID # 249567Position # 40030963 The Department of English and World Languages at Augusta University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in English specializing in creative nonfiction at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2023. Acknowledging the importance of building a faculty that reflects the lived experiences of our students, we are particularly interested in candidates whose work is informed by diverse perspectives, including issues of race, culture, sex, and gender.

Responsibilities
The successful applicant will teach undergraduate courses in creative or professional writing as assigned by the Chair to include all of the duties and obligations expected of a college professor not limited to, but including grading, maintaining regular office hours, class preparations, and following university policies regarding teaching (e.g. reporting attendance and holding exams during assigned time). Potential courses include Literature for the Creative Writer, Special Topics in Writing, and Introduction to Creative Nonfiction.Assistant professors on the tenure track are also expected to pursue a robust research or creative activity agenda and to contribute to the service mission of the university.

Required Qualifications
  • An MFA or PhD in Creative Writing (or English with a concentration in Creative Writing)
  • A strong record of professional success and publications; and experience teaching college-level writing are required


Preferred Qualifications
One published nonfiction book; strong publications in a secondary genre or area of professional and technical writing; experience advising and mentoring students; and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion are preferred. Experience with online teaching is also desirable.
