College/Department Information
The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, we provide dental education to the next generation of professionals by offering hands-on education through innovative research, patient care, and service. Join other dental providers to improve the oral health of Georgia and beyond. The DCG was founded to provide the people of Georgia with quality dental care by educating students in dentistry. As a patient, you have the option to receive treatment in one of our three different practice models consisting of student clinics, resident care, or in the faculty practice. All dental treatments can be completed by the specialists in our facility. We also serve patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.

Job Summary
Performs dental/medical surgical annual and interim provider audits. Serves as a resource for coding and regulatory compliance for both professional and facility coding, for resident and faculty providers, Insurance staff and team members' coding questions, Charge Capture into axiUm and Carevoyant billing systems using the appropriate CDT, CPT, ICD-10-CM and HCPCS codes. Actions will be in accordance with federal, state, and payor billing requirements. Auditing of dental and medical procedures using knowledge of payor billing guidelines and applicable state and federal laws.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to: Reducing claim denials caused by inappropriate coding or ins
Reducing claim denials caused by inappropriate coding or insufficient documentation of multispecialty professional fee coding to include Pathology, Evaluation and Management (E/M), surgical medical and dental procedures. Abstract coding from medical/dental record documentation. Responsible for accurately reviewing and coding treatment documented in the dental/ medical treatment records and operative notes. Responsible for verifying all codes
Responsible for verifying all codes are assigned the correct diagnosis to justify procedure. Prioritize work queue by department for professional services for Main Hospital OR (dental) services, Children's Hospital of Georgia and AU Ambulatory Surgery Center Identifying reimbursement deficiencies
Identifying reimbursement deficiencies through performance of dental and medical coding and documentation audits using auditing tools and knowledge of federal and state payer rules, and commercial billing guidelines, medical and dental coding, and analytical skills. Use of PowerChart for operative notes
Use of PowerChart for operative notes to obtain documentation for coding. Email queries to providers when
documentation has errors, missing, or otherwise ambiguous information that prevents coding of services Responsible for charge capture in axiUm and Carevoyant billing
Responsible for charge capture in axiUm and Carevoyant billing systems for claims submission to insurance
and billing of self-pay patients using all applicable modifiers CPT, CDT. and ICD-10-CM codes, modifiers, place of service and location. Determining billing outliers through audits
Determining billing outliers through audits of pre-and post-review of dental and medical surgical treatment plans. Ensures that all documentation is present and appropriate
Ensures that all documentation is present and appropriate for reported dental and medical procedures. Coordinate with insurance staff
Coordinate with insurance staff to identify claims denial trends for education and training. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in healthcare or business related field with two years' experience as a certified coder with requisite coder certification(s) or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA). Knowledge of insurance and payor requirements. Knowledge of dental office coding.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in healthcare or business related field with four years' experience as a certified coder with requisite coder certification(s) or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA). Knowledge of insurance and payor requirements. Knowledge of dental office coding.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in healthcare or business related field, 8 plus years experience as a medical coderauditor, specialty certifications (CPMA) in addition to required CPC certification, dental coding/charge entry experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Understanding of OIG Audit work plan, proficient knowledge of dental /medical auditing processes and reporting, Proficient knowledge of federal and state payor billing requirements, CDT, CPT, HCPCS and ICD 10-CM coding guidelines and conventions, proficient knowledge of medical and dental terminology and surgical procedures.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 14

Salary: Minimum $36,197.00/Annually - $45,760./00Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
