Job Summary The School of Arts and Sciences at Dalton State College invites applicants for a Temporary Lecturer in Mathematics beginning August 1, 2023 through May 31, 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching general Mathematics courses as well as additional courses in their area of expertise. Other duties include advising and mentoring students, keeping office hours, developing curriculum, assessment of student learning, providing service to the campus and community, and undertaking professional development. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, off-campus, or online courses.

A complete application must include (1) a letter of interest, (2) a statement of teaching philosophy, (3) a curriculum vita, (4) three current letters of reference*, and (5) transcripts of all college work. Unofficial transcripts will suffice for initial screening however official transcripts will be required upon employment.

Responsibilities
    Teach courses at the undergraduate level. The teaching load will consist of 27 to 28 credit hours per academic year. Actively participate and serve on committees in the college, school, and community.Advise students using Banner/DegreeWorks each semester for the subsequent semesters, assist with graduation applications, mentor students, and assist with career placement.Participate in other appropriate service and professional activities related to the field of expertise.
Required Qualifications
    Applicants must hold an earned Master’s degree from an accredited college in the specified field or a closely related discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in Mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications
    College classroom teaching experience.Earned doctorate.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    An earned Master’s degree, doctorate preferred, in Mathematics or a closely related field. Applicants must provide evidence of teaching and classroom effectiveness.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to teach in face-to-face, hybrid, and online classrooms.Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and use applied learning approaches.Support the DSC Vision, Mission and Values and foster an environment of diversity in culture, thought and experience.Successfully educate and empower a diverse student population (DSC is a Hispanic-serving institution) and support first-generation college students.
