Primary job duties and responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate level courses.
- Advise undergraduate students in the major
- Coordinate and supervise student field experiences. Assist with curriculum development activities to include web-based courses to accommodate traditional and nontraditional students.
- Participate in continuous assessment of program-level and student learning outcomes.
- Develop personal and undergraduate research.
- Seek external funds to support program activities and student scholarships.
- Participate with student recruitment.
- Provide service to the University and professional organizations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum:
- Ph.D. in family studies, child/human development, and/or a related area
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excellent analytical, oral/written communication skills, and teamwork.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's)
- Knowledge of Family and Consumer Sciences related concepts and principles, with an emphasis on food and nutrition
- Good leadership ability
- Good organizational skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in child development, family studies, and/ or early development education
- Experience in early learning care
- Demonstrated success in research and scholarly activities.
- Must be able to work with traditional and nontraditional college students Must be able to teach courses offered at various times (i.e. during the day and/or evening)
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and other office equipment, including, but not limited to, the telephone, fax machine, copier Regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear; lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Regularly required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Occasionally lift 20 pounds overhead and 40 pounds from waist to shoulder Specific vision abilities required include close, distant color visions, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
