  Job Summary:

The Executive Director of Residential Operations leads all aspects of the University’s residence halls to ensure a student centered, vibrant living and learning environment. Taking primary responsibility for the housing operations functions, the executive director ensures that all processes and systems result in an efficient and secure environment where students thrive. The executive director also works with the staff to ensure a vibrant array of programming and learning opportunities that build a strong supportive community, supporting student retention and satisfaction. The executive director collaborates closely with campus departments to create a vibrant, active student experience. The Executive Director of Residential Operations reports to the Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs.

Essential Functions:

Supervision & Management:

    Serves as overall manager and primary contact for all matters concerning Residence Life and related programs, activities, and services.Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates an Assistant Director, 3 Area Coordinators, and Operations Assistant.Works to develop a residential environment that supports the academic mission of the University and that balances the need for sleep, study, and community development along with related departments.Serves as the primary administrator for eRezLife and other platforms where applicable.Approves expenditures, tracks expenses, and effectively manages assigned budgets and related fiscal tasks in strict accordance with university policy.Along with the Assistant Director, prepares reports, maintains official records, and provides assessment data for residential life.Serves as one of the Dean and Director on-duty response personnel for the campus, and is available for coverage during break and holiday periods as needed.Serves as a Community Standards Conference Officer when necessary.Ensures the high-quality delivery for all major Residence Life programming efforts.Manages summer housing and the residential service portion of summer conferences.This position is part of the “essential personnel” required to be on campus in the event of any campus emergency/shut down situations (e.g., weather pandemic, etc.).
Housing Operations:

    Provide overall management of all housing operations, including residence hall marketing, room selection, housing waivers, and regular and ongoing building maintenance needs.Oversees housing software systems and their integration with other IT and Student Financial Services platforms, as well as all housing related business processes.Critically examine and refine/revise all housing policies and processes as necessary of a complex array of interrelated college systems and seasonal cycles.Monitor and evaluate housing assignments and occupancy statistics for residence halls.Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators for the University’s housing program.Coordinate all department communication around residence hall operations.Along with the Operations Assistant, monitor and communicate priorities and concerns to facilities services including custodial, maintenance, keys, and safety/security concerns.Manage early arrivals/openings, returning student check-in, break housing processes, and campus closings.Interact with students and parents/families regarding residential concerns.

Qualifications/Education:

    Commitment to the mission statement, core values and goals of Alvernia University.Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience in lieu of a Master’s degree).

Physical Requirements:

    Attendance is required in order to perform the duties of this job.Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
