Normal Work Schedule: 40 hours per week

Job Summary: Performs advanced professional accounting activities for a specialized, complex assignment or functional area requiring application of an advanced professional knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Ensures or evaluates compliance and accountability of financial programs and business operations/processes. May supervise or lead lower level professional accountants and other staff.

Additional Department Summary: Serves as member of the project teams providing reports and analysis.
Performs financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking, analyzes financial data and creates financial models for decision-making, report on financial performance and prepare for regular leadership reviews, analyze past results, make recommendations for improvements, identify and drive process improvements, including creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and excel dashboards, increase productivity by developing automated reporting and forecasting tools. Grow financial performance through analysis of financial results, forecasts, variances, and trends. Develop financial models to support valuation, planning and forecasting. Drawing on data from multiple sources/systems, this process requires high-level Excel proficiency.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and three (3) years of professional accounting experience; OR a Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business and two (2) years of professional accounting experience; OR CPA and two (2) years of professional accounting experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of economic/data analytics, construction management, financial systems, internet, and computer literacy. Understanding and ability to apply basic and complex accounting skills and concepts. Strong communication skills, including ability to prepare materials and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, project management skills and ability to contribute to a multifunctional team. Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills and ability to manage and manipulate large data sets. Demonstrated success in performing meticulous, high quality and compliant work. Ability to plan and organize work independently, manage competing priorities, and utilize available resources to complete quality work within time constraints and under minimal supervision. An inquisitive and growth-based mindset accompanies by a high level of self-motivation and initiative.

Skills and Knowledge: Outstanding written, oral, and electronic communication skills, research and analytical skills, ability to thrive within a collaborative environment, ability to meet deadlines, ability to work in a self-directed manner. Strong technical, analytical, tax, and governmental accounting knowledge and ability to apply and communicate that knowledge. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data management tools (SQL, Business Objects)

Preferred Qualifications: Certified Public Accountant, Experience with data analytics, demonstrated knowledge of Circular A-110, OMB Circular A-21, Federal Uniform Guidance, OMB circular A-122, OMB Circular A-133, 2 CFR 200, and University policies and procedures.
