The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University seeks two faculty members at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level for appointment in the University Medical Line or University Tenure Line. One position will be based at Stanford University Medical Center and one at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a clinical or basic research focus in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The criteria for appointment in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful applicant should have MD or MD/PhD degree and demonstrable record of scholarly achievement including the ability to conduct team science by collaborating productively with other investigators and clinicians or readiness to develop an independent research program (for assistant professor rank). The candidate must possess or be able to obtain a California medical license at the time of appointment. As a physician-scientist, the candidate is expected to have potential (assistant professor rank) or demonstrated excellence in patient care. Board eligibility or certification in pulmonary and critical care medicine is required. The ability to obtain (assistant professor rank) or prior success competing for competitive research awards, publication record appropriate at the stage of career, and evidence of effective team-building leadership are important qualities for competitive candidates. The candidate will also be expected to mentor pulmonary and critical care medicine fellows who are planning careers as clinical and/or basic science investigators.

The expected base pay range for this position is:

Medicine (Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine)
Assistant Professor - $215,000 - $247,000
Associate Professor - $253,000 - $295,000
Professor - $306,000 - $354,000

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It may not include all components of faculty compensation or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
