Nature of Work
The postdoctoral experience provides individuals who have recently completed a doctoral degree with a full-time program of advanced academic preparation and research training under the guidance of a supervising faculty mentor. Postdoctoral appointments are temporary by nature and are designed to develop the postdoctoral scholar as an independent scientist and to enhance their professional skills in academia. The goal of this postdoctoral position is to provide a solid background in the field of cell and gene therapy.

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $54,840 - $66,600.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

- Supervise graduate assistants or other staff members as directed by the supervisor.
Examples of Work Performed
- Data collection, processing and analysis for the specified project.
- Assists faculty researchers and other collaborators to plan and design research experiments; establishing priorities and recommending schedules, time tables and costs.
- Present research findings to internal and external audiences.
- Operates specialized scientific equipment.
- Performs statistical analyses, including selecting the appropriate analysis procedure, setting up data for analysis, judging validity and reliability of data, designing and writing programs to perform analyses, and producing written reports on the result of the analyses.
- Effectively uses available technology to facilitate the success of the project.
- Assisting the supervisor in writing, editing, or submitting required forms for grant applications.
- Writing, editing, and submitting peer reviewed technical publications.
- May be responsible for training staff and graduate assistants.
- Attending required classes or meetings to further the knowledge of the candidate in the field of immunology and histocompatibility

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD in one of these fields of study; Immunology, Molecular Biology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pre- and post-doctoral experience in immunology with particular interest in HLA, histocompatibility and gene therapy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of molecular biology and immunology.
- Independent worker with the drive to pursue furthering the project goals.
- Organizational and project management skills.
- Record keeping skills.
- Written and oral communications skills.
- Skill in leading, coordinating, and/or supervising the work of others.
