Job Summary:

Basic, clinical and translational research scientist who will conduct experiments related to clinically-applicable immunology issues in lung immunology. The particular project focuses on the role of CD4+ T cells in the lungs of humans with sarcoidosis and in a murine model of sarcoidosis.

This position reports to Dr. Andrew Fontenot in the Division of Allergy & Clinical Immunology

Supervision Exercised

Position will oversee some work performed by Professional Research Assistants (PRAs). Will assign tasks, monitor progress and workflow, check the product for timeliness and correctness or soundness.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Processing of blood and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid from human subjects

  • Exposure of mice to various antigens and harvesting lungs, spleen and lung-draining lymph nodes for single cell analysis, monoclonal antibody staining of those cells for analysis by flow cytometry, cloning and expressing TCRs on hybridoma cells, proliferation assays, adoptive transfer, immuno-histochemistry and immunofluorescence staining, and Western blotting.



Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position has been established at $65,448. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD or MD in one of these fields of study; Immunology, Molecular Biology.
  • Minimum of 5 year(s) experience in one or more of the above fields.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pre- and post-doctoral experience in immunology with particular interest in T cell biology.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • In depth knowledge of human and murine immunology, as related to the lung
  • Ability to work independently
  • Meets responsibilities without supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven expertise in manuscript submissions
  • Proficient at trouble shooting and problem solving, keeping detail records and maintain the highest level of scientific integrity
