Description:

Reporting to the Vice Dean of the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing, the Standardized Patient Educator will support the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs in the School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates specific needs for all SP encounters with all faculty and team members from the School of Nursing.
  • Manages the design of SP encounters using the Education Management Solution (EMS) SimulationiQ hardware and software; Including but not limited to:
  • Event schedules for students, faculty and SPs
  • Input simulation related materials (i.e. cases, checklists, etc.)
  • Monitors videotaping of encounters.
  • Manage archived videos
  • Process and supplies data to faculty produced by the EMS system.
  • Troubleshoots EMS hardware and software issues during live simulation, including any external hardware that may be used (i.e. tablets, laptops, etc.)
  • Coordinates the maintenance and system upgrades with EMS and Hofstra IT.
  • Maintains current knowledge on related technological innovations.
  • Manages inventory
  • Responsible for all aspects of set up and breakdown of SP simulation events
  • Participates in selection of new Standardized Patients (SP).
  • Chooses appropriate SPs; schedules individual and group training sessions.
  • Collaborates with leadership in finalizing case development materials.
  • Manages all aspects of event set up and break down.
  • Assists with on-boarding new SPs.
  • Attends departmental meetings.
  • Supports other components of the School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum one year of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, team building and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong administrative, leadership, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects, prioritize and multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team.
  • Work hour flexibility.
  • Proficiency in internet use, computer literacy, and Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Simulation experience.
  • Experience using EMS-SimiQ software and related camera systems.
