Your opportunity:

Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Coordinator provides administrative and budgetary support to the “Exploring Pathways to Sexual and Reproductive Health in a Cohort Study with Northern and Indigenous Youth” and “Stormy with a chance of HIV: Climate change, resource scarcity, and pathways to HIV prevention among adolescents and youth in Kenya” projects. Duties include managing data and resources, facilitating communication and collaboration across multiple sites, and organization for the project team; selecting and managing communication and collaborative tools; active and continuous communication with team members to help facilitate collaborative project progress, tracking milestones to support PI with critical decisions regarding project direction, and to meet key milestones and project goals; management/coordination of external communications; and support in the preparation of presentations, data analysis and presentation, interim and final reports, ethics approval applications, research proposals, and publications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Informing stakeholders of project progress
  • Formatting data collected for presentations and reports
  • Maintaining project records
  • Implementing and executing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • Overseeing the data collection and analysis processes
  • Conducting systematic literature reviews
  • Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected
  • Analyzing results and preparing statistical reports for research papers

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work/Health Sciences/International Relations/Women and Gender Studies or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of direct and recent research experience
  • Prior experience and demonstrated knowledge of diverse issues affecting Northern and Indigenous youth’s health and wellbeing, and global youth health, is a requirement. Examples include HIV and sexually transmitted infections, youth sexual and mental health, arts-based research, social determinants of health, Indigenous health research approaches, global health, and cross-cultural research
  • Experience with research methodology (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Demonstrated ability to use research database software for qualitative (e.g. Nvivo) and quantitative (e.g. SPSS, Qualtrics) data management and analysis
  • Experience producing documentation for all aspects of a research project from administrative to analytical
  • Experience preparing research ethics protocols
  • Experience providing job-related guidance to research assistants
  • Creative and integrative critical thinking skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrably strong writing skills
  • Exceptional time management skills, ability to multi-task and set priorities to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to exercise good, independent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated collaborative abilities and approachability
  • Ability to work effectively and as part of a team
  • Strong attention-to-detail, analytical and problem solving skills


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Master's of Social Work (MSW) and/or Master’s in Public Health (MPH) is highly desirable
