UCLA School of Dentistry invites qualified applications for a full-time faculty in Orthodontics. This position will be at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Health Sciences Clinical Series (non-tenure track - JPF08171) or Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure track- JPF08170).

The Section of Orthodontics is recognized for clinical and academic excellence, up-to-date clinical facilities, and offers an exceptional research environment. Numerous opportunities are available for clinical and / or research collaboration within the Dental School, and other UCLA schools.

Reporting to the Chair of the Section of Orthodontics, the selected individual will have primary responsibilities for didactic and clinical instruction of predoctoral students and graduate orthodontic residents. Additionally, the successful candidate will engage in research project supervision of students and contribute service to the school and profession.

The position calls for an individual with good interpersonal skills who can provide an evidence-based approach to education and clinical care. The successful candidate is expected to have experience and / or ability to develop positive, equitable and inclusive environment that accelerate the success of our increasingly diverse students, staff, and faculty we have and want to attract.

While scholarship is expected for both clinical and tenure track positions consistent with their professional goals and program needs, tenure track faculty will engage in productive extramurally funded research.

In addition to the above criteria, candidates seeking a tenure track position should demonstrate a history of scholarly productivity including current extramurally funded research or tracking towards such funding, and preferably hold a PhD (or equivalent) in biomedical sciences, public health, social sciences or other relevant field.

Applicants for either track must possess: (1) a DMD/DDS degree or equivalent, (2) a certificate of completion of a postgraduate training program in Orthodontics, and (3) a California dental license or is eligible to practice under special permit in dentistry.

Candidates who are Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics or be Board-eligible are strongly preferred. Engagement and familiarity with Craniofacial and Special Care Orthodontics (CFSCO) is desirable but not necessary. A track record of outstanding patient care, as well as demonstration and commitment to diversity is desirable.

Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. An opportunity for part-time clinical practice will be available.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table #5, Scales 0 and 4. The salary range for this position is $115,100-158,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan- APM-670, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The UCLA School of Dentistry offers an additional $5,000 in base salary compensation on top of the published salary scales for all clinical faculty.
