Job Summary:

The Musculoskeletal Research Center at Children's Hospital Colorado (Pediatric Orthopedics) has an opening for a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow position. This position provides an opportunity for continued training in clinical orthopedic research while developing an independent line of research. The Children's Hospital Colorado Musculoskeletal Research Center (MRC) mission is to conduct exemplary research within pediatric orthopedics that achieves faculty academic advancement, staff professional development, and improved patient outcomes. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will collaborate with faculty on existing projects and will develop their own line of independent research, with mentorship provided to compete for external grant funding. Specific projects that this role will work on include randomized clinical trials and observational studies, surgical outcome investigations, and a variety of different projects within each MRC sub-specialty. The ideal candidate will be experienced in clinical orthopedics research with a track record of publications to approach clinically relevant questions.

Key Responsibilities:
    Analysis and dissemination of results related to ongoing and newly developed projects within the MRC Manuscript development and publication Scientific abstract presentation at national/international conferences
Mentorship and professional development of clinical and research trainees (e.g., fellows, residents, research assistants) Development of new and innovative projects related to clinical orthopedics Development of competitive applications for extramural grant funds Maintain compliance with new/ongoing projects and coordinate the implementation of lab initiatives with the MRC leadership

The MRC is a part of the Colorado Program for Musculoskeletal Research (CPMR), which is situated in the Research Division of the Department of Orthopedics and including investigators across the 4 University of Colorado Campuses focused on musculoskeletal research. The department's overarching mission is to provide the highest quality, professional, and innovative care through the integration of comprehensive education and cutting-edge research. The MRC includes 16 full-time research assistants, 14 orthopedic surgeons, and 4 primary care sports medicine physicians, with involvement from CPMR biostatistics core. The MRC facilitates research mentorship for fellows, residents, medical students, and undergraduate summer interns. Research conducted at the MRC spans a variety of pediatric musculoskeletal specialties, including general orthopedics, hand/upper extremity, hip preservation, scoliosis, neuromuscular disorders, cerebral palsy, spine, trauma, tumor, and sports medicine.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

A PhD and/or MD degree with research experience in clinical orthopedics, public health, epidemiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience working with surgical populations conducting assessments that relate to outcomes following orthopedic surgery Experience working with a multidisciplinary team to conduct clinically relevant orthopedics research

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution Outstanding patient and family interaction skills Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

The budgeted salary for this position is $70,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
