Organizational Unit Overview:

The PM&R Department serves the rehabilitation needs of the 1.3 million people in a 29-county region of eastern North Carolina and is located within ECU Health Rehabilitation Center at ECU Health Medical Center, with Spinal Cord, Brain Injury, General Rehab, and Pediatric Rehabilitation Units.The Center’s 57-bed inpatient unit is one of few rehabilitation facilities in the U.S. accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in eleven or more specialty areas. The Center is also one of the five centers of excellence at ECU Health. ECU Health Medical Center is a JCAHO-accredited Level I Trauma center.The ECU Brody School of Medicine is partnered with ECU Health Medical Center (formerly Vidant Medical Center). ECU Health Medical Center is the flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Job Duties :

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University (ECU) seeks a board certified or board eligible rehabilitation physician to practice management of musculoskeletal patients at the ECU Health Neurosurgery Center. This is primarily an outpatient clinic assignment, with the physician housed onsite with the Neurosurgeons, at our Pain Center, and our outpatient clinic; but the candidate would also participate in didactics with residents, rotating medical students, and occasional research students. Abundant opportunities exist for performance of EMG/NCS, ultrasound, interventional spine procedures, spasticity management including baclofen pumps, botox, xeomin, and phenol injections. Opportunities also exist with non-operative orthopedics and sports medicine.Fixed Term position available. Minimum Education/Experience :

MD, DO or foreign equivalent, from an appropriately accredited institution.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

Unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in NC and DEA registration certificate. Board certified or eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehab.
