Responsibilities:
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Mount Union invites applications for a one-year visiting faculty position in Computer Science, to begin August 1, 2023, at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach a full load in each of our two semesters. Courses expected to be taught include the following: Operating Systems, Introduction to Data Science, and Data Analysis / Visualization; other courses to be taught may be based upon the applicant's areas of interest and our program needs. We are particularly interested in candidates who will further Mount Union's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and access.

This position includes the opportunity to teach several courses in the area of Data Science during the year, but is not a full-time Data Science position. The candidate we hire must have the ability to teach upper-level Computer Science courses.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science expects to be able to conduct a search for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field is required; Ph.D. is preferred.

Mount Union's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers majors in Computer Science and Multi-Platform Software Development, with approximately 45 students in these majors last year. The Department also offers minors in Computer Science, Database Management, Computer and Network Security, and Web Design, and contributes to the University's major and minor in Data Science and Analytics.Mostcourses in the Computer Science program meet in a computer teaching lab reserved for the program's exclusive use, providing effective support for a hands-on instructional approach.
